Beijing - Shanghai, China

The line opened in November 2010 links two of the most important economic centres of the People‘s Republic of China. With only one intermediate stop in Nanjing south, the fastest trains take 4 hours 48 minutes for the journey from Beijing to Shanghai. Originally designed for 380 km/h, the speed was limited to 300 km/h on cost concerns. With its 1,318 km, the line is the longest in the world completed in a single construction phase.
