We are constantly working to reduce our CO2e emissions in all three Scopes. Our efforts are anchored in three main pillars; Energy efficiency (Scope 1), Green production and E-mobility (Scope 1 and 2) and Decarbonization of value chain (Scope 3).
And our climate actions are already paying off cutting 60% of the corporate CO2e emissions from 2019 to 2020. Now, the journey continues.
Since 2020, all our power cable factories have switched to using electricity originating from renewable energy significantly reducing our scope 2 emissions. This green move has played a key role in cutting our CO2e emissions significantly in the past years.
The change in energy supply is documented by EU Guarantees of Origin, market-based instruments which are certified by an auditor. The guarantees provide proof that our electricity consumption is based on renewable energy for the power cable production in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland and Czech Republic.
Fuel for stationary and non-stationary equipment account for a significant part of our CO2e emissions and reduction in fuel consumption is central to reducing our environmental impact.
We are converting processes and machinery to run on renewable energy or alternative fuel. The transition of our company fleet to electrical/hybrid vehicles (EV) has been initiated and to support this change, electric chargers have been installed at several sites. We have started the stepwise transition to electrical cars in 2021 and aim to have a fully electric fleet by 2025.
At the high-voltage cable factory in Karlskrona, Sweden, forklifts have been upgraded to run on alternative fuel. This project will be evaluated on an ongoing basis with a view to implementation company-wide.
An important element in our journey towards net-zero emissions is to decarbonize our value chain, which accounts for a significant part of our Scope 3 emissions.
In order to drive the decarbonization process forward, we are running a long-term supplier engagement program with our main suppliers to build a sustainable supply chain.
