Offshore Installation Engineering Team 

As part of our offshore engineering department based in Rotterdam, you will be surrounded by colleagues within various offshore engineering disciplines in a dynamic and multi-cultural work environment. Our offshore installation engineering department is highly versatile and regardless of your current competencies, you will be given the opportunity to broaden your offshore engineering skills and experiences.

As a Data Mapping Engineer at NKT you will be responsible for all data management, route engineering, mapping and visualization requirements supporting tenders, projects and offshore operations.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the data management and compiling of the different survey datasets per tender, project and NKT standards.
  • Review and analyze survey data, QC/QA and validation of survey data from Clients and third parties according to tender / project requirements and NKT standards.
  • Performing Route Engineering: optimise the cable design route based on available survey data, tender / project requirements with the aim of reducing any potential risks which might negatively impact cable installation operations. Includes creation of route engineering reports.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders with respect to data quality, data management, route engineering.
  • Responsible for the charting, drafting and visualizations for the different phases of tenders and projects. General charting support and charting for the various seabed interventions along the cable route, such as crossings, platform approaches etc.
  • Build GIS databases, dashboards, WebGIS platforms for visualization purposes.
  • Offshore Support, QC of incoming datasets, configure templates for Daily Progress Reports and upload operational data to the in-house ORAT database.
  • Responsible for the as-laid and as-built data management of offshore operations and subsequent uploading of the operational data to in-house ORAT database.

What you bring:

  • A degree in Hydrographic survey, Geomatics or Geoinformatics.
  • Knowledge on managing  and  handling databases and large amount of data.
  • Knowledge of offshore survey; multibeam surveys, side scan sonar surveys, magnetometer, UXO surveys, and sub-bottom profilers would be valued.
  • Knowledge with GIS and survey software such as ArcGIS Pro, Navimodel Producer, AutoChart, AutoCAD, QGIS.
  • Knowledge with data integration platforms for spatial data as FME would be valued.
  • Python programming skills and willingness to learn new software and develop programming skills.
  • Be a team player with a solution-orientated mindset and competent analytical skills.
  • Highly proficient in English, both written and spoken.
