NKT Australia recently realised the successful completion of its installation project at the West Melbourne Terminal Station, which involved the supply and installation of FEV 72 outdoor terminations and USM 145L-OX oil-XLPE transition joints. In the face of increasingly tough restrictions in the state of Victoria due to COVID-19, our in-house installation team succeeded in completing the works as planned and on schedule. Additional control measures and procedures were put in place to combat the risks posed by the current pandemic. In doing so, we demonstrated that we can continue to serve our customers and carry out installation work, all the while strictly observing the current coronavirus regulations. Here at NKT, we take our social responsibility very seriously – which is why we follow the recommendations from both national and local authorities as closely as possible, allowing our healthcare systems to give those most vulnerable to the virus the care they need.

We are happy to announce that this year we have won a contract to supply and install our premolded straight through transition joints SMPGB in the Republic of Kazakhstan. On two 220 kV cable lines measuring 15 km each, our SMPGB joints will replace more than 30 joints that failed during operation, as reported by our customer. Our Russian partner ST will support us in the execution until completion in 2021.
