An exciting role as Senior Category Manager for the category of Polyethylene materials within our Direct Materials team is now vacant. The team consists of 9 highly engaged category managers, having an open, informal atmosphere where knowledge sharing, continuous development and genuine interest in creating real value-adding sourcing solutions to the business is in focus.

As a Senior Category Manager, you will be at the center of our efforts in providing meaningful strategic procurement solutions to the business, catering to our cable plants, globally. Effectively, you will be the partner to the business on strategic procurement matters within your category, having the full end-to-end responsibility. 

While we think strategic procurement is always rewarding, it is particularly fun and exciting these days at NKT, as our demand for materials is growing immensely. It is therefore providing plenty of challenges and opportunities for a curious procurement professional joining NKT. And since Polyethylene compounds and materials play a vital role in the differentiation and performance of our cables, this is a key position within the company.


Your primary responsibilities will be to:
 

  • Define and own all category management activities within your assigned categories
  • Be the supply market expert and partner to the business
  • Develop and regularly update the category strategy and project pipeline
  • Continuously develop the supplier portfolio to match the increasing requirements, securing sufficient external capacity
  • Promote supplier relationship management and key supplier partnerships
  • Negotiate valuable supply agreements, utilizing market intelligence on materials and cost drivers


Group Procurement has global responsibility, and our skilled employees represent multiple nationalities, working out of several of our plant locations throughout Europe. This role can thus be placed at our HQ in Broendby, Greater Copenhagen Area, Malmoe, Sweden or Cologne, Germany. Some travel, primarily within Europe is to be expected.
 

Who you are
 

  • University degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 5+ years and preferably 10+ years of proven experience and completed projects within category management of direct materials in a larger international manufacturing company
  • Comprehensive capability to engage large strategic suppliers 
  • Curiosity, persistence and a natural proficiency in cross-functional collaboration
  • Your strength is turning business needs into strategies and concrete initiatives
  • Ability to navigate effectively across business lines in a growing international organization
  • High-level proficiency in English - both verbal and written
