To support our continuing growth, NKT’s Service & Installation team is in search of a Product Manager who will work on maintaining and expanding our power cable Service offering (focusing on submarine cables). The area of focus will range from services reducing the risk of cable failures (e.g., cable surveys) to improvements in the delivery of cable repairs (e.g. cable storage). The ideal candidate will have a background in product and/or project management, an affinity for thinking strategically, and the ability to communicate ideas across design, engineering, operations, commercial, and client stakeholders. This person will report to the Senior Manager of Product Management for Service & Installation at NKT who is based in Cologne, Germany.

The Role:
As a Product Manager for Service & Installation, you will lead product development and improvement projects, including the development of sales and delivery tools and materials (pricing tools, marketing materials, technical documentation etc.) with a special focus on products for maintenance, failure prevention, repair preparation and execution of offshore power transmission solutions. To succeed in this role, you should have a high degree of technical affinity and business acumen in order to critically think through product ideas from both technical and economical perspective. Strong leadership skills, empathy, and appreciation for diversity are also essential for success in this role as leading cross-disciplinary and cross-departmental product implementation teams will be a core activity. 


Responsibilities:

  • Work on standardized sales, operations, and technical materials for new and existing products (with offshore focus), as well as managing their periodic review and updates.
  • Independently manage cross-organizational implementation teams and relevant stakeholders from defining product idea, through investment, to complete implementation.
  • Provide input on product concepts and drive data analysis and the research required to substantiate business cases.

Success Criteria:

  • Ability to develop commercial and technical expertise for a portion of the product portfolio (with a focus on our offshore products - e.g., offshore cable repairs, cable storage, and preparedness planning) as well as providing related support to the rest of the organization (esp. Sales and Project Management).
  • Ability to drive projects from idea through implementation while identifying, proactively flagging and mitigating any roadblocks. 
  • Ability to manage customer interactions as well as stakeholders across the entire NKT organization to deliver products and projects with the highest quality.
  • Identification and development of structures and processes needed by the Service & Installation team to manage our growing product portfolio.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure progress on most important activities while maintaining flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing business and competitive landscape.


Qualifications / Experience:

  • Education in Engineering, ideally at or above master’s level, Additional business background (e.g. MBA) is a big plus.
  • 3-5 years’ work experience, thereof at least 2 years in a marine engineering environment.
  • Commercial or project management experience is a big plus.
  • Courses re. product development, business analytics, strategy and marine engineering are a plus.
  • Full Professional Proficiency in English is mandatory, Swedish is a big plus.
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook  
  • Familiarity with AutoCad and Solidworks (or similar).
  • Experience with GIS mapping software is a big plus.
  • Experience in CRM/SAP is a big plus.
