This is your opportunity to join a highly skilled and growing team with a global provider of high power transmission cables and accessories! As a Traveling High Voltage Jointer/Splicer for NKT, your work will focus on the assembly and installation of submarine (underwater) and land cables (underground and aerial) accessories and equipment across various locations in the United States, with opportunities for international travel as well. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Safe repair and installation of low, medium to high voltage underground and submarine cables using NKT´s patented technology and processes
  • Prepare cable for electrical work according to company quality standards
  • Work safely to ensure no electrical contact incidents or personal injuries
  • Assist in promoting a "zero incident" safety culture and mindset
  • Follow OSHA and company safety rules
  • Provide field service 
  • Assist Team Leader with job planning, hazard avoidance, and recording daily work records
  • Carry out work in confined spaces when needed
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment
  • Perform final checks of cable system
  • Provide positive customer service and perform other duties as assigned

What we're looking for:

Ideal candidates for this role are flexible people who can work under pressure and be prepared to go out on missions even on short notice. Your work requires commitment, great accuracy, technical aptitude, a vigilant safety-oriented mindset, and the ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. As an NKT jointer, you will have the opportunity work with our international colleagues as well, so should be open to working with people from other cultures and backgrounds (some of whom may not speak perfect English) and generally being supportive of a diverse and inclusive organization. In addition, we are looking for people who have a good understanding of cables and related systems and accessories, including valuable training and hands-on experience splicing and terminating power cables. The ideal candidate will be someone who is willing to be trained and is prepared to work both on-site as well as in the field. This role requires having the flexibility to work whatever days and hours are needed to successfully meet our customers' needs. 

Requirements include:

  • Relevant work experience as a Cable Splicer (Jointer) or as an experienced Lineman with current certifications / documentation
  • Experience with line work, fault location, and repair
  • Firm jointing skills, including inline splices, termination of cables 
  • Ability to read electrical drawings / circuit maps
  • Basic computer skills as well as entry-level proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and various internet/web browsers
  • Understanding of basic construction skills
  • A solid safety record and a firm commitment to always working safely
  • A valid driver's license and authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel domestically required; ability to travel internationally also highly preferred
  • Conditions may vary based on assignment
