NKT is now looking for a Design Engineer to join our Applied Engineering team in Alingsås. This is a unique opportunity to work with medium- and high-voltage cable accessories that enable the global shift toward sustainable energy systems. You will be part of a knowledgeable and collaborative technology community with deep expertise in materials, design, simulation, and testing.

Do you want to design and develop solutions that support the energy systems of tomorrow?

As a Design Engineer at NKT, you will contribute to the development and adaptation of our product portfolio within medium- and high-voltage AC and DC cable systems. Working closely with engineers, specialists, project managers and test engineers, you will help ensure our solutions meet technical, environmental, and customer needs. You will also be involved in practical product installations and design verification activities in our test laboratory.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing components and solutions in 2D and 3D CAD
• Creating product and assembly BOMs in our PLM system
• Conducting physical product installations in our test lab for design proofing
• Making technical evaluations and document, present results
• Engaging with suppliers for technical discussions and alignment
• Collaborating closely with colleagues in Accessories business line and across NKT
Ensure that our technical solutions meet customer needs, business requirements and long-term strategy, by working closely with Product management, R&D and Engineering.
• Involving in full life cycle, engage in early concept development, detailed design, industrialization, quality assurance and continuous improvements of existing products
• Use insights from customer feedback, installations and testing to propose enhancements that strenghten reliability, performance and sustainability.

You will be based in Alingsås and report to the Manager for Applied Engineering. Occasional domestic and international travel (10–20 days/year) is expected.

You also bring:

• A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Approximately 3 years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools, PLM systems such as Windchill, and MS Office
• Strong communication skills in English — knowledge of Swedish or German is an advantage
• A positive attitude and an interest in continuous learning
