Are you curious to navigate and shape the sustainability data landscape in an international energy company? As a Sustainability Controller, your focus is to achieve and move beyond transparent and compliant sustainability reporting in line with CSRD and EU Taxonomy requirements. You will contribute to delivering the foundation needed for the journey to net zero of NKT and its mission to connect a greener world through sustainable energy solutions. Your work will span across different departments, business units and project sites, and will provide you with a unique perspective into the daily operations across the entire Transmission business line.

Data Quality and strong stakeholder engagement skills are key

In this role, you are responsible for managing and improving ESG data collection processes to ensure high data quality and comprehensive reporting across different business areas. Your strong stakeholder engagement skills will support your day-to-day tasks as you work closely with internal teams and external partners to collect, validate, and analyse the data.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the collection, validation, consolidation, and analysis of ESG data
  • Ensuring timely and consistent data provision across business units and projects
  • Provide ESG‑related input for tenders, customer requests, and sustainability value propositions
  • Maintaining and updating sustainability KPI tracking at Business Line level
  • Supporting compliance with CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and further sustainability-related frameworks
  • Monitor regulatory developments and integrate relevant requirements into internal processes and reporting structures
  • Act as the main point of contact for sustainability data providers at permanent offices and temporary project sites
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to internal teams to strengthen understanding of reporting requirements and data expectations
  • Collaborate closely with Group Financial Compliance and Sustainability Reporting teams to ensure alignment and consistency

You will report to the Head of Sustainability – Transmission Business Line and become part of a team of sustainability specialists. The role is based in Cologne, with some travelling across Europe.

You have an eye for detail and thrive in structured environments

You are organised and detail-oriented, with a structured approach to data and processes. You have an initiative-driven mindset and proactively collaborate and support knowledge sharing, actions and improvements across the organisation. You are comfortable working in an environment with evolving requirements and managing multiple interfaces simultaneously.

You also bring:

  • A B.Sc. degree in accounting, finance, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Experience of reporting according to relevant standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather and validate ESG data and handle sustainability KPIs
  • Full proficiency in written and spoken English and German
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in MS Excel. It is a merit if you have experience of MS Power BI or other visualization tools.
