Ensure sustainability excellence in complex transmission projects

Do you want to manage sustainability performance in large-scale transmission projects that enable the renewable energy transition? As Project Sustainability Manager in NKT’s Transmission business, you will oversee the execution of the Project Sustainability Plan from tender handover to delivery, aligning contractual requirements and NKT standards including CSRD/ESRS and EU Taxonomy. This is an opportunity to embed climate decarbonization, circularity, human rights, biodiversity and compliance & reporting across engineering, production, installation and site operations while shaping client reporting and external assurance readiness. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, implement LCA and Scope 1–3 accounting, and turn sustainability KPIs into measurable improvements such as energy/resource savings and waste reduction. Coordinate end-to-end sustainability delivery in transmission projects

You will coordinate all sustainability activities within the project scope, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory and internal requirements. You will define and maintain the Project Sustainability Plan, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, KPIs and reporting cadence, and act as the primary interface on sustainability toward the client and the project organization. You will monitor performance, assess risks and audits, secure closure of non-conformities, and ensure continuous improvement and innovation. You will align inputs across engineering, production, installation, supply chain and site operations, covering LCA, Scope 1–3 accounting, circularity and waste, human rights due diligence, biodiversity/permits, and external assurance readiness.

Your responsibility will be to:

  • Integrate contractual sustainability requirements and NKT pillars into project execution.
  • Own planning, documentation, KPIs and reporting; ensure seamless tender-to-execution handover.
  • Oversee client-facing sustainability reports, presentations and stakeholder interactions.
  • Track performance, escalate risks, recommend corrective actions or stop-work when necessary.
  • Qualify suppliers, review/approve subcontractor documentation, and conduct audits and implement improvements.

This position is based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Some domestic/international travel is expected.

Collaborative, impact-driven sustainability leader for projects

You are a motivated, methodological person who thrives on turning complex requirements into clear plans and measurable outcomes. You build trust with diverse stakeholders, communicate insightfully and respectfully, and work methodically. You are detail-oriented and compliance-focused, yet innovative—using data to inform decisions and identifying practical ways to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact. You enjoy leading cross-functional teams, sharing knowledge, and encouraging a culture where every person can contribute to sustainability goals.

You also have:

  • University degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience across sustainability in tendering and project execution.
  • Proficient in LCA methodology and Scope 1–3 greenhouse gas accounting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CSRD/ESRS and EU Taxonomy reporting frameworks.
  • Practical experience in circularity/waste management, human rights due diligence and biodiversity/permits.
  • Preferred: Dutch language skills.
