Unlike indoor terminations, outdoor terminations must be able to withstand everything that the weather can throw at them. They need to allow for more creepage, while tin-plated cable lugs prevent chemically induced corrosion. While indoor terminations can be installed in any position, outdoor terminations should be no more than 90 degrees from the vertical in order to prevent rainwater from accumulating.
